Blender also includes node based material editor, so on material level you can be as non-destructive as you want. It also supports volumetrics if your machine can handle it. If you start working with particles, making grass and clouds, your workflow will be less destrcutive. I'm not sure if this one is still being maintained, though. UV maps are part of mesh data, meaning you don't really ahve "UW unwrap" modifier, like it worked in 3dsmax. There aren't really any parametric primitives.
